Courses
I was in charge of the following courses:
- EInführung in die Geoinformatik, a two-semester course for first-year Geosciences BSc students, consisting of lectures and exercises, 6 years with 80 to 120 students per year. Exercises changed yearly and some examples can be found here for 2017 or here for 2018
- Rechenpraktikum, a block course for second and third-year Geosciences BSc students, consisting of various exercises that had to be solved, usually in Excel, 7 years with 10 to 20 students.
- Einführung in Geographische Informationssysteme (GIS): Atmosphärenwissenschaften/Einführung in Geographische Informationssysteme (GIS): QGIS-Meteorologie, a block course for second and third-year Geosciences BSc students with various exercises in (Q)GIS with 10 to 20 students.
- Grundlagen der Meteorologie (German), a lecture for second or third-year Geosciences BSc, dealing with the basics of meteorology and measurement techniques, irregularly replacing the main lecturer for 30 to 50 students.
- System Erde: Mensch und Umwelt, a ring lecture with exercises for first-year Geosciences BSc students, dealing with the basics of meteorology on a very high level, irregularly replacing other lecturers for 80 to 120 students.
- Praktikum Atmosphäre und Klima, a practical course focusing on analysis data with programming for second- or third-year environmental sciences students, supporting 15 to 40 students with a focus group of 3 to 8 students as direct supervisor.
Other activities
- Introduced Python as a programming language to fellow researchers in the same lab and those interested from two more labs with regular meetings to discuss problems and best solutions
- GIS and Python support for fellow researchers in the same lab, and for others in various labs of the same department
